Maybe you have been leading groups for a while but want to develop your leadership style and have more tools to develop your groups?
This course covers the essentials of how to lead successful singing sessions with 6 x weekly 1.5hr online course + residential weekend in West Sussex.
Options of online course only
or residential weekend only for people who have already completed the online course.
A participative course on how to lead effective singing sessions with demonstrations and opportunities to try things out with supportive and constructive feedback. Each online session includes a practical warm-up and learning a song.
The fully catered residential weekend includes formal teaching/learning masterclasses and informal singing and song-sharing opportunities in the house and grounds of a beautiful 17th century farmhouse in Nutbourne, West Sussex.
You will learn:
warm-ups (ice-breakers, physical, vocal and team-building);
choosing suitable songs;
breaking down and teaching songs;
what to do with your hands (beating, starting, stopping and more);
inclusive exercises to adapt and integrate into your practice;
developing your group musically and interpersonally.
Ruth demonstrates and teaches with warmth and clarity, supporting each participant in their learning style and pace.

Online Course
Week 1: Clarifying your role as a singing facilitator and identifying your strengths and areas of development, ice-breakers.
Week 2: Warm-ups and vocal health- what, how and why?
Week 3: How to teach a song
Week 4: Arm-gestures and non-verbal communication - how to beat, starting and stopping,louds/softs/expression.
Week 5: How to make your group sound amazing - active listening exercises.
Week 6: Trouble-shooting - managing group dynamics, pitching issues, recruitment and more.
Residential weekend: The opportunity to put into practice the learning from the online course with in a supportive environment, developing your teaching style in more depth with constructive feedback, deep immersion into your practice, develop personal and professional relationships with peers.
Includes handbook, video recordings of sessions and song resources for you to use with your group(s).
Weekend includes full board accommodation with delicious home cooked vegetarian food, snacks, drinks.
